WE LOOK FORWARD TO MEETING YOU!
We would like to welcome you to our office and thank you for considering us for your child’s dental health needs. Our doctors and staff are dedicated to providing the highest quality pediatric dental services for your child.
You can help prevent tooth decay by starting your child’s dental checkups at an early age. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that your child visit the dentist by his or her 1st birthday. Consider your child’s first visit as a “well baby checkup” for his or her teeth. Our doctors and staff can show you how to properly clean your child’s teeth and discuss fluoride needs. At the same visit, the doctor will check for problems, such as baby bottle tooth decay, and can evaluate any adverse habits such as thumb sucking.
Our goal for young children is to make dental visits quick and easy. Our doctors will provide a thorough examination and talk with you about any issues of concern. After age 3, or when your child is ready, we will begin preventative care visits which include examination, cleaning, fluoride treatment and necessary radiographs.
You can make the first visit to the dentist enjoyable and positive. Explain to your child that our doctor is a friendly doctor who helps take care of teeth. Talk about the visit in a positive, matter-of-fact way, as you would any important new experience. Tell your child that we will count his/her teeth and show both of you how to effectively clean the teeth. It is best if you refrain from using words around your child that might cause unnecessary fear, such as needle, shot, pull, drill or hurt. We thoroughly explain each of our procedures to children in terms they can understand before we perform them. If you approach the visit in a casual manner, the chances are much better that your child will do the same.
Please be aware the patient's parent or legal guardian must accompany the child to their first visit.
